Throughout the congress there will be several activities such as:

- Plenary conferences, where renowned researchers in the field of school coexistence, school climate and school violence have been invited, some of them with extensive experience in the design of public policies for their prevention.

- Roundtables, through a format of conversations between experts and professionals, which seek to deepen key aspects of research on school coexistence, school climate and school violence, reflecting on how to advance in the design, implementation and evaluation of public policies.The round tables are organized at the invitation of the scientific/organizing committee.

- Methodological workshops, which correspond to exercises to support quantitative and qualitative analysis and mixed designs, aimed at strengthening the research skills of the participants.These workshops are aimed at researchers and university professors participating in the Congress.

- Experiential workshops, which are exercises for experimenting with educational strategies aimed at strengthening the educational intervention skills of the participants.These workshops are aimed at non-university teaching staff participating in the Congress.

- Symposia, which organize a minimum of three and a maximum of four papers around a common theme.The symposia are proposed by the authors themselves and selected by the scientific committee and evaluators.Symposia are proposed within one of the three thematic areas of the Congress, and correspond to original research results unpublished or published during the last two years.They can be presented in Spanish, Portuguese or English.

- Oral communications, which correspond to individual presentations of original research results unpublished or published during the last two years. Oral communications must be submitted within one of the three thematic areas of the Congress. They may be presented in Spanish, Portuguese or English. When applying, each author must indicate if, in case the oral communication is rejected, he/she accepts that it be proposed as a poster.

Meaningful Experiences Video, these videos are presentations of various experiences and lessons learned in the context of work or research activities that have been carried out in organizations related to the educational field. These videos compile experiences that are representative of the diverse challenges, approaches and methodologies used within the educational sector, covering a wide variety of contexts and situations that allow a deeper understanding of the impact of initiatives in the school, academic and social spheres.

- Posters, which correspond to written communications of a) original and unpublished research, b) educational intervention experiences. Posters must be submitted within one of the three thematic areas of the Congress. They can be presented in Spanish, Portuguese or English.

Thematic Area 1: School Coexistence/School Climate: Research, Policy, Practice

This thematic area aims to encourage interdisciplinary reflection on research, strategies, successful experiences, and policies, for preventing and address school violence in diverse social and cultural contexts. .

Área Temática 2: Violencia E)scolar: Investigación, Políticas, Prácticas

This thematic area aims to encourage interdisciplinary reflection on research, strategies, successful experiences, and policies, for preventing and address school violence in diverse social and cultural contexts. .

Thematic Area 3: Understanding and Measuring: School Climate, Coexistence and School Violence

(IOSCVP Special Interest Group: Understandings and Measurement Practice: School Climate, Coexistence and Violence Prevention)

This thematic area explores the measurement, evaluation and operational and conceptual definition of school climate, coexistence and violence. Works that address the evaluation and design of instruments to measure these concepts will be prioritized. .

  • Each person may submit a maximum of 2 first authored contributions and a maximum of 4 authored/co-authored contributions in total.
  • The limit of authorship per contribution is a maximum of 5 persons.
  • The limit of authorship per contribution is one (1) author. Contributions must be framed in one of the thematic areas of the congress, which will be defined at the time of applying.
  • Submissions may be presented in Spanish, English and Portuguese.
  • Contributions submitted must be original, unpublished or published within the last two years. Likewise, the images and other material presented and/or used during the congress must be original and not copyrighted or without authorization.
  • By the date of submission of the paper, the person appearing in the first position of the authorship must have registered for the congress and, before the end of the registration period, must have formalized and paid the registration fee.
  • The presentations of the papers will be in person.

Verbal presentations will last approximately 15 minutes.

Presentations can be backed up with visual aids such as PowerPoint.

CONTENTS OF THE SHIPMENT:

Participants must upload the following data to the congress platform in the respective sections:

  • Title of the presentation
  • Authorship and co-authorship (if any)
  • Institutional affiliation of the speakers
  • City and country of origin
  • Language in which you will present
  • E-mails
  • Thematic area of the congress in which the work is included
  • Abstract of 700 words maximum, including: introduction, problem statement, methodology, results, conclusions and discussion, and the 3 most important references in APA 7th Edition format.

The organization of each symposium is the responsibility of a person who will act as coordinator.

Before the congress, the coordinator will be in charge of collecting the data of all the participants, integrating the summary of the symposium and all the oral communications. 

During the congress, the coordinator of each symposium will be in charge of presenting, giving the floor, analyzing the similar or contrary positions and contributions of the communications and energizing the debate generated by the questions of the listeners after the last communication. 

Each symposium should include between 3 and 4 oral communications and at least 4 speakers.

The person submitting the symposium proposal is the chair of the symposium. Only one person (the coordinator) should submit and present the symposium, including all abstracts, on behalf of the presenters.

CONTENTS OF THE SHIPMENT:

Following the instructions in the Application Platform, the coordinator must complete the following data:

  • Presentation of the symposium, identifying the objective and a brief description of the topics or experiences to be addressed: maximum 700 words. Identify the language in which the symposium will be presented: Spanish, Portuguese, or English.
  • Abstract of each oral communication: maximum length of 500 words for each oral communication that makes up the symposium. Each abstract must include the following sections:
    • Introduction
    • Problem statement
    • Methodology
    • Results
    • Conclusions
    • The three most important references (APA norms 7th edition)

In the presentation of each contribution, the following data shall be identified:

  • Title of the presentation
  • Authorship and co-authorship (if any)
  • Institution of affiliation of the lecturers
  • City and country of origin
  • E-mails
  • Thematic line of the congress in which the work is included
  1. Evaluation criteria include:
  • The quality of the research content or experience.
  • Clarity and conciseness of the presentation.
  • Audiovisual recordings in the form of micro-documentaries and experiential stories will be valued.

2. The summaries are made in the Postulation platform, which will request the following contents: 

  • Author(s): Information on participants, including organizational or professional affiliations.
  • Title: Descriptive about the presentation.
  • Abstract: Writing of the documentary file. It is suggested as structure to mention the introduction, objectives, methodology, results and conclusions, in 700 words. 
  • Optionally you can include the video if it is already elaborated, including a link to Youtube with the audiovisual piece.
  • Keywords: 3 to 5 keywords that identify the topics to be covered, separated by semicolons. 
  • Topic line: Specify area according to congress guidelines.

3. If accepted, the presentation is suggested to include the following indications: 

Formats:

  • Files in the following formats are accepted: MP4, MOV, AVI, Youtube.
  • The maximum duration of the presentation is 10 minutes.

Content:

  • The information should be presented in a clear, concise and accurate manner.
  • The use of technical or complex language that may make it difficult for the public to understand should be avoided.
  • It can be divided into different sections, such as introduction, development and conclusion.
  • Resources such as music, animations and graphics can be used to complement the information.
  • It must have a good quality sound, prioritizing that the dialogues are audible over the ambient sound (or if necessary, use subtitles). 
  • Time should be maximized to present information effectively.
  • It is important to ensure that you hold the copyright for all material used.
  • If protected material is to be used, permission must be obtained from the authors or copyright owners.
  • Direct exposure of children and adolescents should be avoided

The selected works will be screened in a rotating playback room. Attendees will be able to enter and stay as long as they wish during the screening during the days of the event.

  • Starting date for abstract submission - first call for papers: January 27, 2025.
  • Deadline for abstract submission - first call: March 31, 2025 (9 weeks).
  • Start date for abstract submission - second call for abstracts: April 3rd, 2025
    Deadline for abstract submission - second call for abstracts: June 3, 2025 (8 weeks)
